Graduate Studies

Graduate students are key members of the Quantum Spacetime research group. Our group usually has approximately 10 PhD students at a given time. Click here for more about our current students.

Admission to the Graduate Program:

Students who are interested in joining our Quantum Spacetime research group are welcome to apply for admission to the TIFR PhD program. Our Integrated PhD program admits students directly after their BSc degree. Integrated students typically spend 6 years in TIFR and graduate with a PhD degree. PhD program admits students after an MSc. PhD students typically spend 5 years in TIFR and also graduate with a PhD degree. The admission procedure to both the programs consists of a written test that is administered across several centers within India (usually in December). Based on their performance in this test, some candidates are invited to visit TIFR to appear for an interview (usually in March/April). Successful candidates may be made independent admission offers by the various departments and centers of TIFR, including the Department of Theoretical Physics, of which the Quantum Spacetime research group is a part. Stipend and Accommodation

The institute arranges for the accommodation of all graduate students at a nominal charge. Students also receive a monthly stipend (approximately Rs. 28,000 a month).

Past Students

Several students who have graduated out of TIFR are now members of research groups around the world. See here for a list of students who have graduated out of DTP, including students of the Quantum Spacetime research group since 2005.
